Gravon MALEFIZ Championship 2008

Dear Malefiz Players,

Below you will find the Tourney rules for the Malefiz Championship 2008. If you need any additional information, please don't hesitate to contact our Tourney Organizers "Sat" or "Paul".

Contents

General Information:

  • Eligible participants are all players that have a registered Gravon nick at the time of their application.
    • Registered players that have no rating are entitled to a general appraisement of 700 points.
  • The tournament system (Group stage with a subsequent K.O. system) unfortunately requires a fix number of participants.
    • Possible number of players is only: 16, 20, 32, 40, 64 or 80
    • The chronological order of registrations is extremely important (i.e. by 35 applications, the first 32 will be picked out, likewise by 43 registrations the first 40).
  • Players who have registered but cannot participate are substitute players in the order of their applications.
  • Substitutes can only fill in during the group stage of the game when the eliminated player has not played yet.
  • In order to make even teams of equal strength, the groups will be formed in the following manner:
    • Deadline for player rating (responsible for classification) is the July 31 2008.
    • Changes in the rating during the time of registration have, therefore, no more influence.
  • Please register only if you can participate in the entire tournament.
  • Use of an additional nick for multiple participations will lead to a Gravon ban.
  • Registered players that have an unexcused absence or who do not participate during the tournament will be banned from all events.

Group Stage

  • Players have 2 weeks time to play their games in the group stage.
  • Within the group, everybody plays against everybody.
  • One party within the group stage will always consists of 3 games.
    • Results are, consequently, always: 3:0 or 2:1 (each game counts as 1 point)
    • Parties not played will be evaluated with 0:0, when both players do not appear at the appointed time.
    • Parties not played will be evaluated with 2:-2 (minus two!), when one player does not appear at the appointed time.
  • The direct comparison counts by an even total of points.
  • First and second place qualifies for the K.O. stage.

K.O. Stage

  • The matches for the K.O. stage are as follows. The tables will eventually be accommodated on the actual number of participants.
  • Every match has one week time for one party in the K.O. stage.
    • The faster a party is played in one round, the faster the next round can begin.
    • This will be announced in the forum from the tournament administration.
  • The winner in the K.O. stage will be found out by max. 5 parties, although 3 victories are enough to progress (3:0, 3:1, 3:2).

Registration and Appointments

  • Registrations are to be made through the forum (see links and time lapses)
  • Appointments only can be posted in the for this cause specially arranged appointment topics.
    • Agreements and arrangements outside of the forum or in verbal form are without obligation.
    • Appointments are to be held or cancelled within 24 hrs before the appointment via Forum-Posting (alternative appointment inclusive).
  • Without a notice of cancel, a player wins after a 15 min. appointment delay.
  • An obligatory appointment is to be held, should the participants not come to an agreement on a specific date.
    • The obligatory appointment is the particular Sunday of the week at 8 pm.

Game Rules

  • Every game is to be staged on the outer places (red/blue)
  • The game players choose their colors in the first round. A roll of the dice is to be made should the participants not come to an agreement of color choice.
    The higher number on the dice has the right to choose the place.
  • A players wish for a change of place after a lost match is to be granted!
  • The games are to be played in the specially arranged tournament-rooms. All games outside of these rooms are invalid.
  • The games are to be played with “6 again” and “Ranking”. Both players are responsible for this set up before the game starts.
    • Parties not played in these modes must be repeated.
  • Spectators are allowed, but we stress fair play! Friendly gestures and greetings of all kinds are to be made after the game is over.
  • Disturbances, discussions and whispering to players are absolutely not allowed during game sessions.

Tournament Organization

  • The Tournament will be led by “Sat” and “Paul”.
  • The organization team will establish fair play rules for all game players, should additional regulations, not before mentioned be needed.
    This applies to game results as well.
  • Any decision made by the Tournament Organization is final.

...but more importantly: We wish much luck for all players and moreoverly much fun!!!

Prizes

1st ,2nd and 3rd place can be delighted over a gold-, silver- or bronze nick for eight weeks. 3rd and 4th places in the game are therefore decisive.
Sat additionally contributes an ultimate victory trophy for the Gravon Master of 2008- will directly follow the tournament via Post.

    Differing numbers of participants will be paired in accordance to guarantee a transparent and fair way right from the beginning.
